I went into ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck’ a little bit blind and not sure what to expect and knowing very little about the author, Mark Manson. Based on the title alone I had hopes that this book could, as suggested, teach me the art of not caring in certain situations.
What’s good?
I liked the core message of the book and without delving too deep it does a good job of hammering home the point of focusing on the things that are important to you. For the most part the book comes across as very easy reading and doesn’t try to get too bogged down in the science behind anything, preferring anecdotal examples instead.
What’s bad?
When reading some of the anecdotes I feel like the book could have just got to the point already without the long pre-amble. To some degree this almost came across as filler and the book would have benefitted by being 50 pages shorter.
How much did I read?
The whole book!
Conclusion
I liked this book and can get behind some of the messages. It might not completely be my usual kind of book, and whether my life will be improved by using the book as a guide remains to be seen (although I see this as being unlikely given my will to actually change isn’t all too strong).
